About Us
Challenges make us grow. As mountain sports enthusiasts, we choose to be active in the most demanding and beautiful environments on this planet. Whether it's the joy of reaching a summit after seemingly endless elevation gains or the countless attempts on one of the world's most difficult routes – those who love mountain sports love challenges. And we celebrate that.
Stories
Experience stories of people who risk failure. People who dive into adventures, only to find the next challenges and grow beyond themselves.
Philosophy
Mountains are big and powerful as well as gentle and benign. They are overwhelming yet liberating; educational yet exhausting.
We at Mammut firmly believe that our experiences in the mountains help us grow, strengthen our physical and mental health, drive us to find more resource-efficient ways of living, and teach us respect and humility. We see it as our mission to inspire people and enable them to experience the mountains for themselves.
With every person who wants to have this experience, we share summit successes as well as first exploratory attempts. And we are there when an attempt fails. We give you confidence and support so that you can grow beyond yourself.
Grow beyond yourself.
Not a streetwear brand.
Never have been. Never will be.
Our mission is the love for the mountains. We want people to go outside, face challenges, and become one with nature.
Our equipment is made for the mountains, not for the city.

In the year 1862
… Kaspar Tanner founded a rope factory in the small town of Dintikon in Switzerland. While he initially produced mainly for agriculture, the focus increasingly shifted to mountain sports from the 1950s onwards. And with that, also to the topic of safety: Mammut launched the first nylon glacier rope, developed the first Barryvox for searching avalanche victims in collaboration with the Swiss Army in 1969, and was one of the first brands to use waterproof GORE-TEX functional material. In the 1990s, the first generation of the iconic Eiger Extreme collection for mountaineering was created. Meanwhile, the small Swiss rope factory has become a global brand for mountain sports. The spirit of innovation is still just as strong. If anything, even greater.
